WA v SA
-
The new season at Richo started off on Sunday 30th September with a selection game for the Western Warriors, which included our own State players Chris Rogers, Darren Wates and Ben Edmondson.
On the Tuesday the club hosted a one day game between WA and SA. The visiting team had Jason Gillespie, Darren Lehmann, Matthew Elliot and Dan Cullen to contend with so WA were assured of stiff opposition. The game was decided in the last few over`s when SA scored the winning runs to beat the home side in a very close fought contest.
On the Wednesday the same teams played a two day game and once again it was quite close. Luke Pomersbach (Gosnells) scored an impressive 136, with some big hitting that kept most of the spectators on their toes avoiding the big sexes he hit. Justin Langer and the injured Michael Hussey came along to support their WA team mates.
On the Tuesday the Warriors Coach, Tom Moody celebrated his 42 birthday and at the excellent lunch that was provided by South Perth, was presented with a birthday cake by one of the players, much to his embarrassment.
The following day it was the birthday of Brett Dory (30) turn to be embarrassed when he too was presented with a cake.
Once again praise must go to John Airey for the wicket, which provided something for both bowlers and batsmen alike.
